No sports action last week, just team pictures for MCHS Spring sports.  All the spring sports start like crazy this week.  Not only will I be shooting MCHS this week, but also will be shooting some Orange County High School sports on Monday and Tuesday for their yearbook.  I’ll also be shooting the Leprechaun Launch 5K Obstacle Race and Kid’s Obstacle Course this coming Saturday morning.  It’s a fundraiser for the Madison Primary School Playground drive (to build a new playground at MPS).  I anticipate that being fun 🙂

They were out today when I went by for a visit.  They should be on the nest soon with an egg, or eggs, so I won’t bother them for a while.

One of the few photos I have with mom and dad in the same photo….

….not mine, but it was somebody’s “home place”….quite a while ago I would think…

All of these are digital infrared.   And, one of the problems when shooting digital IR is that there is more lens flare when shooting into the sun, I assume it’s due to the changing around of filters in front of the sensor.  Sometimes it bugs me, in this case I like it.  It gives a better feel for the direction of light.

And, the last one is my favorite.  Also digital IR, but also HDR, three exposures combined to give more dynamic range.  You can really feel the light coming through the window.

There are still quite a few sports photos mixed in there…but that will change over the next couple of weeks since we’re on a break between winter sports and spring sports.  But, I see some trees already starting to bloom, so I don’t think there will be a scarcity of subject to shoot over the next couple of weeks 🙂

I’m having a hard time narrowing down the pictures, so there are quite a few….

This is how it started….

Sunset, Clouds, Landscape, orange, sky

…then went to this, and that’s when I realized it was going to be especially good.  I hopped on the four-wheeler so I could cover more ground, and hopefully find better foregrounds.  It’s always nice to have something meaningful in front of the sunset.

Sunset, Clouds, Landscape, Sky, Orange

I had a little trouble with the cow in the middle in the photo below.  She kept wanting to eat.  I had to keep yelling to get her to keep her head up 🙂

Sunset, Clouds, Landscape, Sky, Orange, Cow, Silhouette

The pictures don’t really do the clouds justice.

Sunset, Clouds, Landscape, Sky, Orange, Jet, contrail

I turned around and saw this….

Sunset, Clouds, Landscape, Sky, Orange, Silo, Barn

Sunset, Clouds, Landscape, Sky, Jet, contrail, moom

Back on the four-wheeler to look for a different foreground…

….and then it was gone….

We sent some of Ellen’s Instagram photos off earlier in the week and had prints made of them.  Nice little 5″x5″ prints.  Her Instagram photos are really good.  And for whatever reason, they look even better printed.  Something about being able to hold them in your hands….and take your time looking through them.  A much better experience than looking at them on a computer, or iPhone.  I don’t print enough of my work.  My photos just hang around on a website somewhere as 1’s and 0’s.  When I’m gone, I don’t want to leave behind a bunch of hard drives, with hundreds of thousands of photos on them.  I’d much rather just leave behind a box of prints…..

Playing around with a new little camera yesterday…(more on that later)…liked this one of Tiger.
