I went out to shoot a little bit yesterday afternoon before the Middle School basketball games<\/a>, mostly to get a few images to play with in the new Lightroom 4 BETA<\/a>, which was introduced yesterday. \u00a0They’ve made some pretty big changes, the Basic panel is quite different….and I think I’ll like it. \u00a0Basic processing seems a little more straightforward with the new controls. \u00a0I think one of the biggest changes is the ability to make localized white balance adjustments. \u00a0(When shooting available light indoors, there are often multiple light sources, all with different color temperatures, so different parts of the picture end up being slightly different color. \u00a0We’ll be able to fix this now without going into Photoshop.) \u00a0They’ve also added the ability to create photo books within Lightroom. \u00a0Templates are limited to Blurb right now, but I’m sure others will be available later.<\/p>\n

The image below was processed in LR4 …. not that I couldn’t have done the same thing in Lightroom 3, but it did give me a chance to play with the new interface.<\/p>\n

And below is a screenshot of the new Maps module of LR4 in use. \u00a0The photo was one that I took when I was at Eddin’s Ford in Madison<\/a> when I was dropping off my truck for service. \u00a0It was taken with my iPhone, which has GPS. \u00a0And the location is pretty darn close to where I was standing when I took the photo.<\/p>\n
